Door keypad question

Got this 04 f350 not to long ago. I am the 3rd owner. PO said he bought it and didn't know anything about the door keypad . So I have no code for it. Question is, is it factory or an add-on? My 01 had it just below the door handle and looks nothing like this. If its factory were can I find the code? And if its not factory anyone have an idea who might have made it?

Looks to be an add-on to me or at least it's not in the same position as my previous '04 F250. Mine was below the door crease and to the left of the handle. Hope this helps.

It looks like one that is stuck on with two sided tape. Your pic is not very good. They are made by Ford. If you can't get it to work, peal it off and buy a new one. They work on the same frequency as the fob. Here is a link to a new one.

This thing feels like its bolted on. Any ideas how to remove it without tearing the door up???

That if the factory add on wireless keypad, my 2004 has one and I'm now on the fifth one!!! There is a key fob battery that runs it so it can be replaced, add a new battery BUT without the original code you won't be able to add a new code so it's useless. It's held on with double sided tape so get a hair dryer or heat gun set it on low heat and use a plastic scraper and carefully pry the keypad off the truck. The ones me have are discontinued from ford so you'll have to get the newer smaller version if you want to replace it I would have done that but my dealer scratched my paint under the keypad so I'm stuck with buying new ones from eBay when I find them listed....

That sux for you to have to put up with that bs. The factory installed one on my 00 was good. I think this add on one is ugly and will take it off. I tried to give it a pull by hand and thought I would peel the paint. was looking/hoping for a better way. To bad they don't have the code hoidden somewhere or else I would try it. Thanks. Rick

The factory installed keypad is different, it's actually wired in to the keyless entry module. The add on ones are basically just a key fob stuck on the door.

Here's a pic of mine on my 2006 which i know is OEM because i bought the truck used & had to get the OE Code from the dealer (need to enter OE Code before u can enter a custom code)
hope this helps.....

Question...Since mine is OE is it "hardwired" or do I have to replace it whenever battery dies
