Just got this one. Has at least a bad #2 cylinder valve. Very low compression. 200k on the truck. Here's the question: drop another motor for around $1000 or just do the heads?

 

Do you know if the engine has been taken care of ? I don't know how much it cost to do the heads but 1000$ would be a good deal for a solid engine. Have you priced out the cost for the heads ?

 

Used heads are another option
Get them pressure tested and checked for true before installing

 

A friends daughter had it for years. Not taken care of except by my buddy when he could get his hands on it. Pretty sure at least a bad valve ybut there was oil on the plug. I can get a used motor for 750. Head job will cost that much. Hate to spend the time tearing into it just to find lower issues.

 

Just got a call from the shipper. Motor delivery is tomorrow. Hopefully can get son and I together to get it installed!
