My 65 f-100 has a 97 ford truck 5 speed in it. what i need to know is how do i get my 65 speedometer to work? Which cable do i use and what gear? Thanks for any help you can give. Thanks Don

PS. I also put the rear end out of the 97 in my truck. The 97 had a 300 six in it. My truck has a 302.

Speedometer DRIVE (on the output shaft) and DRIVEN (end of the cable) gears based on trans type, rear axle ratio and tire size.

You'll have to measure the length to figure out which cable you'll need, as it won't be the same length as the original, due to the swapped trans.

Does this mean that the 97 cable will attach to the 65 speedometer gauge?

I dunno, parts catalog doesn't list this info and personally I haven't a clue.

I gave you the info inre to figuring out which gears will be correct, and said the original cable won't be the correct length, as the trans has been changed.
