Trans problem

I have a 2004 f 150 5.4 auto , when i first start off in the morning i get a trans malfunction on the dash , od light flashes , and the speedo stops working right , after i shut it off and restart its fine the rest of the day , vss ? , any thoughts , and is this located on the trans or rear end ....

If you have the codes checked and it ends up being a VSS code, check the wiring real good at the larger connector on the outside of the frame rail, approximately under the driver's door on the left side; the wiring from the ABS module to the sensor runs through the connector and it's prone to corrosion. There is a black plastic cover that goes over two connectors, pull it off & unplug the connector, make sure it's clean.

Thanks sand rat , i think that did it , no problems yesterday or today.....
