OBS super duty (F450) front spring swap.

ok I posed this question a long time ago and im going to ask it again. I have an 88 f 250 4x4 7.3 5 speed, its got some tired lift springs in the front. the truck is lifted 4 inches. I was wondering how much lift you would gain if I were to swap in a set of stock OBS f 450 leaf springs. to the best I can figure they are a direct bolt in, anyone done it?

unless you are a good metal fabricator, it ain't worth doing because you will need to fabricate new drop brackets for the the front axle to get the alignment back in specs.
the superduty front springs will also give you something like 6 or 8 inches of lift.

Aside from the fact the springs will overlift the front. Those are some seriously HD springs. Get ready for some extra bounce.

I guess I should have been more clear, I did a D 60 swap awhile back. im assuming your talking about on a TTB axle. but 6 to 8 inches is a lot more than im really after, I only want about 3 inches total in the front.

With a 60 they will be 6" lift, and saying they ride bad is putting it mildly... They actually manage to ride worse than TTB springs with a 60 bolted to them, and I didn't think that was possible.

yea 6 inches is more than I was looking for...(insert funny immature comment here)..lol
im really after about 3 inches of lift, I think that's where my truck started out at, im running 35's now, but its still a work truck so any higher than it is and ill have trouble pulling my goosenck

Is there a spring/axle shop in your area? You should be able to have your springs re-arched. I would think that would be the cheapest and give you back what the lift kit provided in terms of height. Don't go with F450 springs... Those things are ~ridiculous!

we did, they made there own springs, mainly for big trucks, but they have been gone for years now, the only place locally that I know of sells new springs but that's about it.

the thought has crossed my mind, problem is I don't really have time any more. 12 hour, 3rd shift with a 2 hour round trip drive soaks up alot of my time anymore
