Options on '49 Ford F2 When New
Been thinking about this recently, and have been wondering just what all the options that were available from Ford for the 1949 model year F2s. Am fully aware of the Magic Air heater, two windshield wipers, passenger visor, etc.
But what about others? For instance, when my father acquired my '49 F2 around 1970, the truck had only about 40K on it, looked very sharp (had numerous small dents), sported original paint, engine, etc. Under the hood, it also had a 6-bladed aluminum fan, and the combined fuel/vacuum pump.
I know the pump was an option for the larger trucks, but were they also installed on F2s? Too, the fan appears to be period original, yet I have never seen mention of one in any literature I have examined. I don't know if the fan is a Ford product, or whether it is after market, haven't looked for any stampings.
When I rebuilt the engine in 1992, I replaced the fan with a regular 4-bladed version, and the fuel pump with the standerd one. Have since wondered if I should have re-installed them. Still have both units, although I am sure the fuel pump needs an overhaul.
Is it possible the truck came with these items originally?

My '49 had a dome light in it when my dad bought it in the '68 or '69. I removed it when tearing the truck apart and misplaced the glass lens. It had switches in the door posts to activate the lights when the doors opened but I doubted that these were stock. The dome light was oblong, something like 2"X4". I found a lens at a swap meet many years ago that I took a chance on bought it for a couple of bucks and it fit the light bracket. I would think the stock dome light would be round like used on the '51-52 models.
An option I know of would be the stainless grill covers, they were standard in '48 but an accessory in '49 and '50. A rear bumper might have also been an extra also.
