1955 F 100 Wiring NSS

Making some serious progress on installing new wiring harness in 12 volt upgrade. Trying to power through the "interior" dash wiring. I believe I've go the lights and instrument panel figured.

I understand I need to wire the neutral safety switch into the "starting system" I saw on this fine site that, on a 1955 F 100, the NSS is at the bottom of the steering column. I have one red wire coming out of the bottom of what I would say is the steering box (manual). Is that it? I would think I would need two wires, an "in" from start clyn and an "out" to the starter button.

Also, any hits on the location of the back up safety switch would be great. Did this year end have back up lights????

Need help. Thanks.

If you are using the stock steering box, the wire coming out of the steering box in line with the column is the horn wire. Ford used a non standard way to wire the horn, so check a stock wiring diagram.
Mid fifty Fords did not have back up lights.

Crazy. Thanks. Guess I'll keep looking for NSS. Not sure it has one.

They don't show one in the wiring diagrams. Mid Fifty lists a neutral lockout wiring harness with their stock steering parts. (I don't know how anyone can work on one of these trucks without a MF catalog at their side. I refer to it at least a couple times a week even when NOT working on my truck!) I'd give them a call and ask them about the switch location, if anyone knows, they would. (Ask them to send you one of their free catalogs while you have them on the phone, it would be worth having even if they charged for it!)

BTW there is a thread in this forum from a while back that has an "exploded" view of the steering colum that shows the NSS at the bottom of the column and identifies the part No.
