I believe what you are looking for is actually on the transmission, underneath the truck. That's where the switch is anyway.
I haven't dug deep enough to figure out exactly how it works, but it has to be tied to the linkage somehow.
My backup lights don't work. I crawled under there, and found a couple of wires cut. I'm assuming those are the ones I need to get re-connected.
