VC-7DIL-B Gold Coolant replaces VC-7-B
So I went to the Ford parts dept to get some Ford Gold Coolant and the parts guy informs me that they don't sell the Ford Gold VC-7-B anymore, is this correct ? Please no comments about "get that Gold out" I have been running the Gold for the last three years without any issues, delta 4-8deg. Thanks.

Ya, they went with a diff. coolant in the new platform. Don't know if I'd try it in our engines. Have you seen what the oil coolers look like in the 6.7? Are they still buried in the valley?

Not sure what the VC3 is, looks like an ELC or dare I say Dex-Cool

Thanks Josh, that pdf references the vc-7 but not the diluted vc-7-dil that is why I was asking. The vc-7-dil-b meets the WSS-M97B51-A1 requirements it just prediluted, so it is probably ok. It just messes up my flush routine.

The Ford Orange coolant is basically an ELC coolant like other brands are making, but I don't know how it compares to long term usage.

I had actually thought about switching to the same orange coolant that is used in the 6.7L engines until I read a post from another tech, dealing with an E-Series ambulance with numerous coolant related issues, that had orange coolant in it. Here's the response from Ford Hotline:
That was the intelligent answer I needed to read, to make the determination that I will never use orange coolant in my truck, or any other 6.0L/6.4L truck.

Looking at the Ford VC-3 coolant MSDS and the Rotella ELC coolant MSDS, they look quite a bit different to me.
Mike - great info - as usual!

The Oil cooler on a 6.7 is mounted externally on the oil pan on the drivers side. It looks very simple to replace if necessary, but I've yet read of anyone needing to replace one.

After googling an active ingredient of the VC-3 "DECANEDIOIC ACID" (or Sebacic acid)
this came up:
Coolant patents are a good source of tech info - Bob Is The Oil Guy
......... interesting.

Its comparable to the Ford Gold, but on steroids as it has a 6 year/6,000 hrs. service interval. Its fully compapitable with legacy engines as well as current builds.
It seems as Ford agrees with me that their current ELC shouldn't be used in the 6.0.
