My truck only has a blower off and on switch,, is that the way it was 1953? it has 1 hose that runs up to the defroster and the other port is open, no hose, ,, can someone fill me in please,
My '53 has a heater control bracket with four *****. Left to right, blower, temp, air & defrost. The blower **** pulls out to turn the blower on. There are two defrost tubes, one for each side. Pages 74 & 75 of the Mid-fifty parts books shows this info. Hope this helps.
i did see that ,, thats why i was asking , i only have 1 **** , no under mount at all ,, here is a pic , the small black **** to the right of shifter is the blower **** ,, humm now what do i do ,, if the 2 tubes goes to defroster i guess the heater comes from bottom ?? and i need some cables to change it from top to bottom ??
thanks
In the Ford heaters there are two hoses going to the two defrost ducts.
I can't see the heater in the picture, but I believe he was saying that there are two defroster hose connections, but only one hose. i.e., He is missing a hose.
The control panels with 4 cables are for the fresh air heater. All heaters were optional, and the fresh air was the more expensive of the options. Lots of trucks had dealer installed recirculating heaters, which only had an on-off fan control and blew to both the defroster tubes and the floor all the time.
albuq thats what i have i guess the very basic heater ,,i do need to get a tube , i can get it at local parts store , i was just thrown for a loop when i was looking at mid fty book and saw the heater control ,, ohh well now i know i have the basic truck 4 tires , seat and steering wheel lol ,

thanks guys for clearing that up
What you have is a heater that was installed after the truck was purchased. It is not the Fresh Air Ford heater nor the recirculating Ford heater.
Here is a pic of my Ford recirculating heater:
My heater has 2 ***** just under the dash below the choke ****, one for fan speed and the other for floor or defrost. The Fresh Air heater has 4 ***** in the same place as stated before...
nor the recirculating Ford heater ?? so where does it get the air , its gota be a freah air or recirculating ? i don't follow sorry
thanks
What I said was you do not have the Fresh Air Ford heater nor the recirculating Ford heater. I can not tell from the picture if yours is fresh air or recirc; you are right it has to be one or the other. What I said was yours is not a Ford heater.
If it gets air from the outside via the vents on the right side cowl it is a fresh air heater.
