To clean the turbo can something like a blasting media be used? Lets say
walnut media or glass. Has anyone tried?

I'm sure that it's possible but for no more than is required to clean one why would you want to go through all the trouble?

We used to pour ground up walnut shells into the intakes on UH-1H hueys to clean the engine, worked pretty good, although that first startup afterwards always smelled a little off

I have easy access to a media blast cabinet.
