cycling and no a/c

I had no a/c so I thought I would add a can of R134. (it had been converted professionally at a shop by previous owner.)

The clutch still cycled often. So I checked the power plug to the clutch and it had 12v at all times. (I had checked the pressure switch before hand). I'm in the middle of doing a compressor swap (almost as cheap as just a clutch and I don't need the pullers). Am I going in the right direction?

I just got guages but I had already pulled the compressor. Should I just reinstall the old compressor and recharge and check pressure Or continue with the swap?

IF you open the system you MUST vacuume the system. It will not work right if not, and eventually will damage the pump, that is if you can even get the pump to engage. I belive it is sapose to be like 28psi of vacuum at sea level, but i have done really well with 25psi
