2007 shift on fly 4WD-driving down road and front left hub starts making a grinding/scraping noise-slow down or shift into 4WD and noise stops-brakes OK-very intermittant-I thought all transferring action took place in xfer case-what am I overlooking? Thanks

 

Look at the "everything you wanted to know about the iwe" thread in the tech folder above. very common problem in these trucks

 

I agree on the IWE I had to replace both of mine on my 2 week old truck (to me anyway).
