Runs worse with new injector

Hoping somebody has some ideas. I had a number 8 injector throwing codes so I finally had time to change it this past Saturday and right from the first start up it wasn't running great. More smoke on initial start than with old injector and way worse idling. Not so bad when cold but when warm she feels like she's only running on 7 cylinders. Possible bad reman injector out of the box? It was an actual Alliant injector so I had hoped for good quality. My Scangauge shows that there may be a pending code ("not ready") but won't read it. Any suggestions? I was hoping it was just air in the HPOP system and that's what my diesel mechanic figured it was as well but it seems to be getting worse after 100 miles of various city and hwy driving. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

Well I just retuned the truck back to my ID tow tune and went for a blast out on the freeway for the last time tonight. I took her through the first four gears with my foot to floor up to 90mph and hit 4300psi and now she doesn't seem to idle like such a pig. It's kind of odd that the four previous semi-hard pulls didn't make much difference. Maybe there was still some air in the HPOP system after all that just needed a full tilt push to move it through. I'll give her another good run tomorrow morning just to make sure everything is still good to go before I take my 300mi trip this weekend. Wish me luck!

Yeah, it takes a fair amount of time to get the air out of the high pressure oil system. Give it a day or two.

WOW! That is going to be like driving into a blast furnace. Have fun!

Thanks guys for the reassuring words. I was starting to think I was going to have to pull it apart again which I don't have time or desire to do right now.
