dip stick leak

While on vacation,dip stick gasket went out and i had to put jb weld water putty on it,it got me home but is leaking again,need to find where i can get that repair kit and the best place to get the gasket,might not ever get that jb water putty off but have to try.

If I remember right, Glenn didn't have much luck with that kit. Some have, some haven't. I hope your mechanic does Jim. There is an EXPENSIVE fix for it, I don't remember who sells it though. Someone will. It's like 300 bucks though. Edit: It may be strictly diesel.

The expensive one I know a couple people who drop in here once in a while have used it and said it worked excellent. I don't remember who though. The cheap fix, like I said, I've heard some have luck with it, some don't.

The diesel O ring kit has a big O ring that goes on the inside of the dip stick flange as you hold it with a wire brush in the hole. My problem was trying to keep the O ring in the grove as you put it back together again. The O ring is slightly smaller then the grove and kept slipping out of the grove on me!! I finally used 'marine tex' I got on ebay all around it and it hasn't leaked yet. On my newer dually, if it leaks I will buy that expensive thing in the link above.
