Removing aftermarket chrome rocker trim

Just purchased a '94 F250 that has the ugly (IMHO) aftermarket chrome rocker trim held on by double-sided black tape. What is the best (quickest) way to remove it? Quite frankly, I might just rip the metal off and sand down the rockers and repaint, as I attempted just a rocker behind the rear wheel and it took me 20-25 minutes to get the majority of the tape off, and it will take a while longer to get it completely adhesive free. Suggestions?

you can search on you-tube for vids on this but essentially, use a piece of thread inserted at the under edge of the molding, working it like in a saw fashion, it will cut away the tape from the paint, then use 3M adhesive remover to remove the residual glue.

Thanks! I have seen that method before, looks like a good idea.
