dual gas tanks on 72 f250

hey guys I am wanting to add a second tank to my 72 250 4x4.I know this may sound dumb but what parts am I going to need besides the gas tank, lines, switch valve and switch. also where on the dash does the switch go. does anybody know of maybe an install guide. I might be picking up a donor 68 f100 for its interior and I think it has dual tanks setup but not sure.I appreciate any help I may get.

my 72 has the switch for the gauge on a bracket mounted under the dash below the ign.
The tank switching valve is on the floor between the seat and the door, drivers side obviously.

You'll also need the tank's brackets. If ya don't get the donor rig, a JY trip will require drill, grinder, hacksaw, punch, and BFH to remove them. It will also help if the bed is removed cuz accessing the brackets is a PITA.

The JYs I frequent won't let ya bring torches or any plug-in tools. I just bought a battery-powered reciprocating saw so I can now hack body panels and roofs.

1967/72 F100/350 Stylesides with optional factory installed (on the inside of the left frame rail) 25 gallon auxillary tank. Tank was not available as a dealer installed accessory, factory installed only.

1967/69 Stylesides: Auxillary fuel tank filler tube/exposed fuel cap pokes thru hole in bedside above the scallop (Bumpside) line, in front of left rear wheel.

1970/72 Stylesides: Auxillary fuel tank filler tube/exposed fuel cap pokes thru hole in bedside below the scallop (Bumpside) line, in front of left rear wheel.

Inside the bed is a shield (27937 in pic at right) that protects the filler tube from possible cargo damage.

Adjacent to the drivers side of the seat on the floor is the manually operated fuel tank selector valve (9189 in pic at left).

The switch (9A050) is mounted to a bracket under the dash to the left of the steering column. Switch only changes dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.

Switch bezel (10852) marked: L FUEL TANKS R

If the filler cap is located behind a door that is riveted or bolted to bedside, or if it's poking thru a hole in bed floor, or if it's located within wheel well, or if there's a R/S tank, or R/L saddle tanks or tank is located on the outside of frame rail: Aftermarket, not Genuine Ford!
