I never looked into any dealers yet but do they still make the valves for the dual tank switching for my 77 special? Was under the truck the other day and the valve assembly looks like it's on it's last leg with rust and all. Do they still make the assemblies so I can just plug it in and connect the lines or is this some type of retro that I have to do?
Call a Ford Parts Dept. and ask them. I think most are linked by computer so if one dealership doesn't have it they can likely find another dealership with the part. Otherwise, check the junkyards. I have a '68 with the stock selector switch in perfect condition so not all old parts are worn out. You ought to have some luck with a little patience.
I saw a switch in J.C.Whitney's catalog which might do what you want and be cheaper then Ford, and be useful for the older trucks with the valve and gauge on two different switches. It's set up to electricial switch the tank/gauge with the same toggle switch, so the toggle to the left of the wheel would would be the only item to switch, rather then reach along side the seat.
Try your local parts store. They should be able to get them, if they don't have one on the shelf.

My manual tank switch went south a long time ago(1972 f250). I installed an electrical type and found that the `factory` dash switch had extra wiring there to allow you to switch the solenoid type valve. And the gauge reflects which tank you are on
Might try that if the hand valve is hard to find.
