Been a long time, but looking at a 2008

Hello all.
I have not been on the forum in a few years after I had to sell my 03 7.3, but now looking at an 08 Ford 6.4 Laramie CC 4WD, SB, with every option you could check off except power slide rear window. Yes, everyone!!
Black with black leather and silver bottom. Newer Tires. 110k miles and I know, work with, fish with the owner. He keeps all of his stuff up to code and on time maintenance.
No mods, never chipped. Only pulled boats...well a 36' but a boat.
Great shape! Has a problem with 4x4 not wanting to engage, but dealer covering that under warrantee this week. (second time).
Here are my Q.
1) $23000. Its what they are going to give him at Ford on trade in. Good price for me?
2) It has had a radiator replacement under a recall, would it now have a better radiator, or the same new POS?

As always, thanks for any help.

Radiator will be the same. anything new these days is made in the same manner and has the same failure rate.

I think the asking price is in the ballpark since you know about the truck.

I take it that you have ridden in it..but have you driven it?

I have not driven it, but of course I will if I get serious about it. Just checking for now, I have a week or two. Deal price or not $23 is a large number for me, but man that truck looks sooooo good!

How hard it the radiator change as DIYS?
Any upgrade radiators out there?
Do they leak into the oil cooler?

no leaking into the oil cooler..that is on top of the motor.

The leaks are around the seams. Mostly drivers side near the tow hooks. Never something to leave you stranded but you cannot let it get low either.

vista pro makes an aftermarket one. You can do it yourself..there are several you tube videos out there.

Hotwheel,
What do you plan on using the truck for?
If you're commuting stick to a Focus, but if you're planning on towing than I'd say the truck you're eyeing is a great pick. Troll this forum a bit to educate yourself, and if you plan to get it you should also plan on being diligent with the maintenance. Don't count on great fuel economy either. If I were to do it again knowing what I know now, I'd still buy my '08.

Keep us posted on your decision.
