32 Ford Radiator Wanted
I just got a 32 Ford chassis and it needs a radiator that is compatible with the flathead. How does the 2 top, 2 bottom radiator work? What's the cheapest way to replace it? (I currently have nothing there.) Can I run two cheaper oil or transission coolers on each side? Someone quoted $600 for a new one. For that price I'll learn to do it myself! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you mean you're thinking of using transmission or oil coolers in place of a radiator? If that's what you meant, that won't work. A cooler cannot flow as much as a radiator, you'd overheat that flattie in a second. $600 is about right for a new radiator...they aren't cheap. The one for my '46 runs about $575 from Walker, I think. Try looking through a magazine like Street Rodder, they usually have a lot of places that would be able to help you out and find you one that will cost a little less. Or see if you can get measurements of an original and see if there are any modern radiators that would fit. I thought I've seen articles on using a rad out of a late model car. Worth a shot, but you'd have to have a shop add a couple of outlets, but it'll be cheaper than a new '32 rad.
