I love the DP Tuner I just installed but it has really messed with my overhead MPG readout. MPG readings are in the upper 20's. I really miss the real time MPG readout and was thinking of getting a Scangauge II or e. Do you think the DP will affect the Scangauge as it did the overhead MPG display?

Also, why should I spend the extra bucks for the Scangauge II vs the E?

 

any tuner messes with your read out of mpg, if that's how you want to see it. I have the scan gauge II I bought and installed after a gearhead 6ts chip. I now get 35 mpg, and that's that.

 

The SG2 can be calibrated to match one tune. It will dead on in that tune and few mpg off in the others.

 

I just use the overhead MPG as a "pass-fail". My overhead averages 20.4 MPG under normal driving conditions. If I hit reset on a flat piece of road with no wind, I would expect the number to be higher after a little time (no accel or gear changing to bring it down). If it says 18 or 19, that's a fail... and a wrench appears in my crystal ball. I've had my lie-o-meter swing from accurate to 12 MPG over, depending on the predominant driving style of that tank and the tune.

 

Yes, prior to installing the DP my MPG use to read about 18.5 mpg around town. Now it reads 28.9 mpg... I wish...
