Are the oil filler caps on the 223 I-6 supposed to fit snug? Although mine does not come off on its own, you can move it back and forth very easily. It may explain why I'm getting oil sling under the hood. Thanks. Steve
The filler cap should fit so tight that it does not fall off when the truck hits extreme bumps. Oil slinging under the hood is most likely blow by and not the fault of the filler cap.
Thanks. I may fiddle a bit with the cap and see if I can get it more snug. With regards to blow-by, anything I can do to setlle that down or is it just nature of the beast?
That's what I thought too. I guess that's what the blowby tube is for. By-the-way, with the help of my trusty hammer, I bent down the oil cap ears a bit and now get a good firm fit when I installed it.
