You may want to keep in the back of your mind a Ford rebuilt
for a long block. It really depend on how deep you have to go
into the engine. And the 2 year unlimited mile warrantee could be a plus
As I understand it Ford can do this 3 ways 1 Short block 2 long block
3 Full dress. BTW Full Dress is all the accessories and turbo as I understand it.

Yes but $15K for a motor installed by Ford would not be worth the truck value. You could get a hellofa truck with lots of warranty left for 30K. Its just a bad situation. I ought to just build an old school 454 with a Munci 4 speed and NP 205 tranfer case and stuff it in there, screw the 6-8 miles to the gallon

If you can do all that with a Chevy set up, Go on E Bay get a shop manual, and dig in. Trust me and engine is an engine, You can get all the support you need on this site. These guy's will walk you through the most difficult parts. Remember, only you can get things done like you want them !

A home build is not hard and like Per4mance said all the support you may
need can be found here. You don't have to get a full dress engine, You
could go a long block do to the valves going. But if you have some heads
then the short block would also be an option. And there is the warrantee
on the long block and the full dress and from what I understand you don't
have to have Ford install it.
