Here's what I did on my 86 Bronco. Probably gonna do something similar for the Flareside. I like the beef of the center while still keeping the factory lines.

It's been awhile but I drew up a drawing of mine... I know it don't have proper dimensioning rules but it's for ease of building..

It will have 5 - 6 in off-road lights facing forward and two back up lights.. The toggles for them are mounted on this mount I made..

And here's installed. It uses the same screws and holes for the factory trim so I can easily remove it and put it back to factory.

The center is a piece of 5" x 14" x 3/16" rectangle tube doved slightly and plated on the ends then the factory ends welded on.

Does anyone have any ideas, drawings, pictures, etc. of an inexpensive front winch/replacement bumper for an OBS truck, using pipe, railroad rail, beam, etc?

This came off of a 79 Chevy. Added the plates so I could use my original bumper holes to mount it. Added the 2 pipes for some extra strength. There are some extra braces behind the bumper for extra strength and some braces ( as seen in next pic) to keep it from tilting back upon impact with, oh, say a deer! They work, too!

Well, you can't see it very well. But it is at the left of the pic and they are fastened to the plate that holds the sway bar and they go up to the bottom of the guard to keep it from tilting.

Oh, yea. Forgot to mention I cut pieces of rubber belting and put it between the guard and the chrome bumper so if I ever take it off the bumper won't be damaged. Stops squeaks ant rattles, too.

Got mine done a few months ago!!

Bare with me there's a lot of pictures...

I made it out of 2x2 stainless square and 1x1 steel square..

I had it powder-coated for free from work so heck ya!

The lights are 6" 100 watt lights from northern tool

Here's the wiring for the lights and such

I added a blue seas fuse box

Winch mounted behind the factory bumper.
More custom built goodies to come as soon as I find another house. Gotta have a garage (or big shed/barn/whatever) to work out of!

that is sweet. Are you going to put tow hooks where the cut outs on the bottom of the bumper is?
