Father son project help

So I'm the son in this situation and I need some help. I have a 1985 Ford f150 with a 300 straight 6. Long story short, the engine is busted so i bought a used one. A 1980 300 straight six with the DSII ignition system. So my question is weather or not him and I would be able to handle the wiring system?

If you can swap a motor you should definately be able to. There are threads about ds2 swap on here. Everything else should pretty much be plug n play.

What he said. Look at the Read First stickies at the top of the threads list and you'll find lots of help there.

The DS II swap is very easy and all plug and play with the wiring. You will not have to splice anything and all the connectors only work one way so it is impossible to screw it up. If I can do it anyone can. And you get to get rid of everything coming out from the computer so your engine compartment will look much neater. This link shows what you need to get it done.

Just for clarification, so even though it is a completely different engine, it's the same concept as the DSII conversion? And thanks for your encouraging words!

Yep. Just change the wiring for a ds2 and the rest should connect directly to whats there.
