1991 F150 5.8

I've owned the truck for 3 years. The A/C has never been fully functional on account of a leak.

I'm just not motivated to repair it at all...

My work's shop has a freon machine that I can use to ensure the system is fully discharged, so once that's done, what all do I need to take care of to make this happen? What should I do about any related electronic plugs/connections?

Any recommendations on whether I should:

A) Remove the compressor and replace it with a dummy pulley.
B) Leave the compressor to be used for the belt only. Gut the compressor if possible or necessary.
C) Buy a shorter belt (length recommendations, please).
