Possibly looking into an 01 with a 5.4
Let me start off with I don't know ANYTHING about this era of F-150s,I'm more of a 92-96 model guy myself. My dad owns an 01 2wd with a 4.6 and I have known other people with similar trucks and I love the comfort of them, very smooth riding trucks.
Anyways, while searching for a new truck to pick up I came across an 01 super crew cab,I was looking for a pre 96 truck but judging by the pictures and information given...I think I'm in love. Now I do like this body style, all besides the front end. I'm not a huge fan of the plastic honey comb type grill and the black plastic on the bumper, but I will replace all of that after time.
So my questions are mainly about the 5.4 trition since I have never even ridden in a truck powered by it. If this truck were stock, which it isn't,what kind of MPG would you expect out of it? How does this engine feel? Is it quick and hauls *** or is it more toward the torquey feel?
The truck is lifted 6" with a Fabtech lift,36" Micky T's,4.56 gears and it is super charged,he says it runs 8 lbs of boost. According to his post it has a rebuilt trans and a fresh motor. It has leather interior, sun roof everything is power etc. He is asking $9,500,does that seem fair? Honestly besides the plastic pieces on the front, the only thing I don't care for is the leather. I know everyone loves leather, but I personally hate the way it feels. In the winter it's freezing and in the summer you stick to it,it's probably really nice in spring and fall though lol.

I have an 02, it has the 5" rcx lift on it, with t bars turned up so aprox 6" of lift runing 35" toyo mt. mine also has a 5.4 with 4.56 gears, it has been a good truck, it has 270,000 miles on it. i would check for mud, everyone who lifts them dont put it in the mud, but still check in those hard to clean places. I am also thinking about a S-charger for mine, of course with a rebuilt tran and motor. do you have any pics? also what is the milage. I love my lifted truck, but they are not for every one, so make sure it is for you before you buy. My gas i get about 15-16 in town and highway below 60-65 MPH. on the interstate, abot 13MPG @ 75-80 MPH. One problem with these trucks are the exhaust manifold bolts will rust out. if it has a new motor youcould look at the Studs in the manifold becouse they will have to be new. Also the cruse control switch, free at the ford dealership. Some have a few problems with Sparke plug blowout, but that is mainly due to not tourqing the spark plugs corectly. do you have the 9.75 rear end, or the 8.8, with those tires and S-charger you probley need the 9.75 rear end. I think overall this era of truck are allsome.

Mike the guy says the engine came out of crashed E-350 and it only had 8,000 miles, now it's got about 30-35,000 on it and the rebuilt trans because they went out only 1,000 miles apart. He says the whole truck has 218,000. I am 100% a lifted truck guy,my first had a slight lift with 33s and I've been wanting another lifted truck since. If gas weren't so damn expensive I'd be riding around on 44s lol.

good luck with it, you know how any used truck or car can be. it is hit or miss. but overall i think this era or truck are good overall. The only thing is the S-charger, if they are not problerly tuned the motor will not last, if tuned i think they are fine with only 8 LBS of boost. Of course a forged short block would be best, but they are pricey. If it was me, and i got it, i would let a good tuner look at it and set up the tune for it so you know what it has for sure. I donty think you will get the mileage you would get out of a non boosted one, but if tuned right it should still be fine. Do you know what kind of S-charger it has? If it is intercooled? What brand the programmer is with the tune? What size the mass air flow is? What fuel pump it has? What size injectors it has? Also you need to look at the spark plugs to make sure they are gaped right, boosted motors are picky on that i belive. not trying to scare you, but these will be things you need to know with an after market S- charger. You sound like you know about lifts so i will not go into ball joints tierods, idler arms, pittman arms. that will be a given with a lifted truck, but fabtec is a good lift, so you wont have the problems someone would from say the Aftermarket T-bar key lifts. One more thing to look at is Axal Wrap with the gears, S-charger, And big tires, it may need some drag bars to corect the Axal wrap. If it dont have blocks on the back it may be ok though.

I dunno'....the supercharger kind of turns me off. If done right you are fine, but done marginal and life expentency of the motor really drops. As mentioned i would take it to a tuner if you buy it. I would pass, but that is probably due to my "age" and what I have learned to be cautious of. I'm with you on the leather seats. My 98 GT had black leather and even in our moderate Minnesota summers it was like being glued to a broiler. I hated having the air on for a cruise, but man that leather really can make you stick and sweat.
If you buy it ask where it was tuned....they will have records.....best of Luck!
