What is this?

I recently purchased an 03 Excursion. While giving it a close look I found this, can anyone tell me what it is an if i need it. This one is mounted below the transmission. There is another one just fwd of and above the rear axel.

Thanks for the help

I've always found these truck nutz to be helpful, whether stopping vibration or as a conversation ice breaker.

LMAO I love it when this question pops up from time to time!

One of mine is tweaked to the rear. How does your other one hang? lulz....

Sean is correct on both accounts.

It's a vibration damper but whether or not you need it is unknown so I would just leave it there.
