Body Patches

Hey guys I am sure it has been asked before and I just don't see it. What kinda of sheet metal would ya'll use to make patches to the bed rails and engine bay area on a '65 F100?

I use mild steel. I use 16 gage for the floors and structural parts and 18 and 19 gage for the panels, doors,box fenders. For the bed rails if i think i would use 18 unless its the floor then i would use 16. For the engin bay for the fire wall i think its 18 but i am not possitive. Good luck
