I have a question for you guys, I have the bed off my f100 and thought I would just buy a new one since it is rusted out REAL BAD. The po used cardboard newspapers and bondo to try to fix it which just made it rust out more when it all got wet. So my question is should I try to fix my bed or continue looking for a replacement. The problem is I don't wanna put out the cash for a brand new one and all the ones I find at the yard are rusted just as bad as mine. I looked into using some of those patch panels from lmc but I'm not much of a body man. If I went that route how hard is it to install these panels? Anyone ever used them?
lol now thats funny I dont care ya are....just a thought but could i just get one of the panels that is larger than the hole and glue it to the bed then grind it down and use some bondo to smooth it out. Im not very good at welding and know i would burn through it the first try. Keep in mind this is just a daily driver not a show truck.
Well LMC has the panel I would want for 39.95 a piece so that would give me basicly a new bed for 100 bucks. The sections I want are 26"x59" so that is pretty much the entire side and the inside of the bed is in great shape. So does anyone know of a good glue to suggest.
I don't see how you are going to glue it. Even when you weld it, you have to use screws to pull it together for a tight fit. I would use flange pliers to offset the joint, and just use pop rivets.
Gorilla Glue? I'd feel better if my bed was welded instead of pop'd or glued. You could probly take the parts to an auto colision place and they could weld it for you if you don't want to weld it yourself. Just my 2 cents.
You know on second thought I think I will just use some duct tape and bailin twine....haha. On a serious note I called the shop to find out what it would cost which means they want to look at me and see how much money they think I have.
