New 2013 F350 first regen

About 300 miles, tooling down the interstate, when I see a quick flash on the info panel, so quick I couldn't see what it was, but all of a sudden I went from 20MPG to about 12MPG. Also, the whole truck felt suddenly a bit sluggish. About 12 miles later, bam, mileage went back to "normal" and the truck felt back to its zippy self.

Can't say I'm impressed with all this EPA emissions stuff but I suppose it is what we have to live with in this day and age.

Just a minor "progress" report as I break this beast in.

You won't have to live with it if you delete it all off like alot of the fellas have. Just a warning also, your little mpg dash number might be lying to you, mine does.

Sounds about right. Like said, you can delete but say goodbye to your warranty.

Nope, won't be doing any deletes for quite a while. We got the seven year premium care to go with the truck - I can't afford to mess that up, especially not with repairs costs going up the way they do. Maybe after 7 years...

After awhile, other than the dip in the Instant MPG indicator, you wont even notice the regens happening. Its all just new to you at this point. Ive got 44K trouble free miles, and the best thing I like about the truck is that it doesnt smell like a diesel.

After 29 years around military diesel vehicles the smell of diesel is sort of like the smell of victory! to paraphrase a line from Apocalypse Now.

And you're right, no diesel smell and no black smoke. The wife likes that.

I miss the diesel smell but no soot is nice most of the time.

A regen tonight took the soot GPL down to 1.14 on mine.
It's been a long time since I've had an AR burn the soot off that much.
After a PCM flash late last year, I can rarely get it under 1.30 whereas the above number was normal for two years.
