clutch fork install advice needed

We just installed a brand new clutch and after it is all installed, drive shaft, crossmember, basically complete. then i notice that the clutch fork isn't sitting like it should. put into gear and the first time clutch pedal is pushed , the clutch fork pops out. Basically it wasn't in the throw out bearing groove so when the slave cylinder engages, it actually allow the clutch fork to go forward towards the flywheel. Is there a trick to get this bugger in there. I already played with it for about an hour. I just cant get it to sit properly in the groove for the throw out bearing, it is only able to in front of the groove near the plastic end........HELP...........SOS................HE to the LP!!!! thankx!!!!!!
