Help figuring out what I have here.

I junking a 98 E350 for the 7.3 that has 201,000KM - runs very well for $250. I'm putting it in my 92 F350 cab and chassis 4x4 to get some more power over my 7.3 IDI. The truck weigh's 9000lbs with my 9ft plow on the nose. I took the cab off the van today and found a tag on the engine for a 99 model engine. I was wondering if it has the single or split shot injectors? What CC would they be and which turbo do I have? I'm using this with my re-drilled 460 ZF-5 and a 13" upgrade LUK clutch kit.

I know there are some differences between the truck and van stuff but I'm a licensed truck mechanic by trade so fabrication and wiring mod's are no big deal for me. I plan to simplify the van harness and re-use as much as I can to save some $$$...I'm going to mod the rad support to take a 7.3 PSD rad or I also have two V10 rad's here and two V10 rad supports to chop up for lower mounts. Right now the truck is running a thick core 300 six rad which just keeps the IDI cool and fits the old gas rad support....Barely...LOL....(fast fix when my old 85 style diesel rad blew up plowing snow) The truck started it's life with a 460 and I switched it to a IDI.

Likely it will be Split Shot AB's 130CC injectors.

Sounds like a good project, The vans, didn't have intercoolers, but that might be something you want to look into adding.

I'm sure you know, you'll need the IDM and PCM to control the motor.

Sounds like fun!

Yeah, I have all that stuff, this was a running van until last night. I do a lot of engine wiring/troubleshooting at work so mod's to the van harness to suit my needs shouldn't be too hard. I'm building a engine test stand as soon as this van is in the crusher so the 7.3 will be the first engine to run in it. I'm building my stand to run gas or diesel, carb'd or EFI. If I can get it fired up in the stand then I'll be all sorted out to install it in the truck.

Would this have the big or small turbo?

Van's will have a larger exhaust side, since there is no intercooler. Should be stamped on the housings with either a 1.0 A/R or 1.15 A/R on the exhaust. The F series, were .94.

I'll have to take a look at that tomorrow. I wonder if a tuner for a F-series will work with my van PCM? I watching Kijiji for a used 7.3/6.0 intercooler to use. To be honest, this engine with a tuner will have all the power I need for my old truck. I mostly just want a little more when I'm hauling junker's on my car trailer. I used to have a stock 97 F450 with the 7.3PSD/auto. It had 4.63 rear gears and towed like a dream...I was passing car's in the hammer lane going up the hills while towing a 1/2 ton truck on the trailer...LOL

Ok, so the turbine housing is 1.15 A/R, the compressor housing is 1.10 A/R - there are 4 bolts in the compressor housing. I took some pics of the up-pipes and oil cooler as well. The van show's a build date of 01/98.

Where does the big hose coming off the drivers side valve cover go? Not the small one out of the box.

I have a line on another 95 engine for $600 or so, it will have everything I would need to change to make this fit the 92-96 F350 frame including the oil cooler. I'm planning to rebuild the oil cooler, re-oring the injectors, new UVCH and VCG and how ever many GP's it needs. I would also like to replace the HPOP hoses, exhaust manifold gaskets and studs and anything else that is ready to leak...LOL

This is the truck it's going in, my 92 F350 cab and chassis dually 4x4. 9ft dump, pintle plate, wired with 2-O cable front and rear for a portable winch. 2000lb winch on the headboard in the box. 9ft Diamond plow. That's my old man in the pic un-chaining a truck I junked a couple years ago. I'v stripped over 40 1980-2006 F-series trucks in the last 6 yrs. I buy/sell the parts for cash on Kijiji to pay for my vehicles and my drag car hobby.

Oil filler cap, stuffed back under the cowl pretty good in a van.

Think it might be the oil fill. My 97 E350 had a hose to the valve cover IIRC.

I made a deal with a buddy to trade a 2001 V10 engine I had for a 96 stroker straight up....He has no use for the 7.3 (in storage) but he has a V10 in his motor home so he was happy to trade. Works out for both of us. ....Now he just has to dig it out so we can make the swap.

So this deal fell through, the engine was in storage and Larry forgot he told his buddy to take it to the auction so when he went to dig it out it was gone...LOL...I found another truck, 95 F250 4x4 complete for $1000....It would give me everything I need for the swap and a spare 4wd ZF to boot which is good.
I have to do some digging on Mitchell to see if the 95 harness PCM plug pinout is the same as the 99 PCM. If it's not would there be an issue running the 95 PCM with the 99's bigger injectors and HUEI pump? The 99 engine has 201,000KM, the 95 engine has 215,000KM so if it runs as good as the 99 I could use it instead. I'm supposed to look at the truck Thursday, probably bring it home at the same time.
