Any info on ZF5 swaps?

I searched and didn't find what I was looking for. Does anyone have any info on ZF5 swaps in dents? I just ordered one for my 1977 F100 2wd with a 351W.

The info I would really like to have is what clutch master cylinder everyone is using?

Fordworth has one in his '75 but it's behind a cummins. Can't remember for sure what slave/master he used but I think they were the ones from a dodge/cummins/ truck

I'm in the process of doing one in my '78 F250 4x4 now. The weather kinda put a halt to it but so far it's all been pretty simple. I probably won't be much help with a different engine and drive train tho.

I have put one in my '66, and am in the process of doing the same on my '73. It isn't too hard, but takes a little custom fabrication. For the dentside trucks, The firewall must be reinforced or the sheet metal firewall will fatigue and tear. I am planning a fairly large reinforced plate to distribute the load across the firewall. I haven't quite got the geometry down yet, but have a plan, and will post pics when I am done. As far as the part numbers, use look up any 90's truck with a manual transmission. I believe they are all the same. What motor/trans combo are you going with?

Here's a couple pics of my "reinforcing plate. Granted it's being used with the hydraulics from a 2001 Dodge as my trans is an NV4500 - but you'd need the same thing for the zf hydro clutch.

On a 77 crew I had I did mechanical linkage, it was easier than the hydraulic (for me) used stock pedals, frame and block pivots and the rod to the fork, drilled a hole in the fork (actually ground a hole, fork is hardened) the only tricky part was the Z bar, getting the ratios right, when I was done it was easy to push and had enough travel.
The only thing that would be better with hyd is the when the engine moves under load you can feel it in the mech linkage, but I know the mech linkage will never fail a master or slave cyl.
