Looking for advice on possible purchase

Hey guys! I am a complete noob to Ford trucks, so I figured I would come to the pros for some advice. If I am posting this in the wrong section, I apologize. Also thanks in advance for any assistance with this.

My brother in-law is selling his 1994 F250 XLT with the 460 in it. It has approx. 260,000 miles on it. It's in pretty good condition, no rust, or major body damage. I have read up a little on the 460 motor on here and know it is a gas hog, but overall it seems like a pretty solid engine. He will sell it to me for $1500.

Here is the ad he has posted on it.

1994 ford F250 XLT 4x4

This won't be a daily driver. I just need a cheap truck so I can pick up building supplies for my basement and pick up bigger things without having to call a friend or relative to come help.

Does a truck like this, with this many miles on it have some life left in it? Is this a decent price? Also what should I look for in the test drive? I read that I should really give it a good run, listen for knocks, maybe check the tranny fluid, make sure it is producing enough power.

I know it is extremely subjective to how it was cared for and I know he has taken good care of it, but what are your guys thoughts on my short little description!?

Based only on appearance, it looks good, and $1500 seems good for a 4x4 460. Make sure you know how it runs mechanically, but it seems like it'd fit the bill for what you need.

LOL Yeah he does. He's a good guy. I don't think he would drop a crappy truck on me.

Thanks. I think what I'll do is have a buddy of mine come along when I test drive it. He knows a lot more about trucks and engines than I do. I'll have to see what he thinks.

It is just super tempting at this price, especially for what I am looking to use it for.
