time delay relay would be your best option. there are several different types ranging in price.

i.e.: Time Delay Relay TDR

You can probably find one that will work for cheap on fleabay

i.e.: item 290717024598

I'm not sure if this one would work, but it looks to be for automotive applications. Directed 528T 12V Adjustable Pulse Timer with SPDT Relay Adjustable Timer New | eBay
There are several more here: 12 volt time delay relay | eBay
Are you wanting to interrupt all the reverse lights, or just the auxiliary ones?

all or at least the auxiliary...The lights are not lasting very long and I am thinking its because of the quick flashes..

Old thread, but I've been wondering...

Did you ever install the timer relay? If so, how's it been working? Improved light life?

I also got another thought from looking over the various timer relay options, and I think I want to install a timer relay "OFF" switch on my flasher circuit so I can pulse the switch arm up or down without clicking it into the "set" position and when I release it, the blinkers will turn themselves off after a couple of seconds... just for lane swapping purposes.
