i just put so extra reverse lights on my truck that i ordered for cabelas and i wired them straight to my orignal reverse lights. My problem is that my orignal lights arnt as bright now did i over loud the wire? Does anyone know what to do
Yes, I added big rig LED lights to my truck and i wired it into the existing running lights and blinker..my stock running lights are not quiet as bright and my LED's are no were even close to being bright like they should,,,impossible to see at dusk when its a little dark out...not reverse lights but similar problem..i still havn't fixed mine..
I ran a small set of 55w foglights on the hitch and wired them into the reverse light wire in the trailer plug, never a problem and it is a seperate fuse than the truck revserse lights so if you did blow a fuse the other lights would still work in reverse.
Drawing to much for the stock wires, thats why you have the dimming, to verify, use a DMM and check the voltage to the revearse lights. You will more then likely see between 10 and 11 volts. Like others have posted, I to tapped the the trailer wiring for my spare revearse lights.
If you have the tow package, the wire positions are either on the inside of the big round 9 pin trailer connector cover or the outside. I forgot which, and am too lazy to run outside to see.
