88 DASH?
hey i have a cab thats a 88 and i want to take apart the dash to repaint it , i want to get the wooden trim out for the most part and if i can the rest of the dash but if its not an easy job then ill just leave it but i have popped the clips on the bottom and top part of the trim im just wondering how to fully take it off because it is still hanging on somehow, i know the wooden trim closest to the door on the bottom is held in by those ***** but im not sure if they untwist or just pop off i couldnt get them to budge and dont just wanna break them off , i was wondering if anyone else on here has taken apart a 88 dash and could help me out??

First you pull the headlight **** and windshield washer
***** off. If you rotate the headlight **** you'll see there
is a groove in the ****. You need to lift up on a spring tab
at the back of the **** with a small pick or flat blade
screwdriver and pull the **** off at the same time you lift
the spring tab. I don't recall if the wash **** has a tab
that needs to be lifted. If it doesn't it pulls straight off.
Then pull the lower trim panel straight towards you. Unplug
the harness plug for the tank selector switch if it had dual tanks.
Next remove the right side lower trim panel. There is 1 torx
screw at the bottom of the steering column that holds it. Then pull
the panel straight towards you. It will take a strong tug
but will pull off.
The top center trim panel has 4 torx screws along the
bottom and two torx screws under the top part of the
dash cluster gauges. Then pull the panel straight towards
you.
