91 F150 4x4 XLT Auto....transfer case ???
Hi All! Im a newbie. Hubby asked me to look for somethinig on the internet and I found this site......
Where can I find a diagram or exploded view of (inside) a transfer case ['91 F150 4x4 XLT auto] ---gears and chains etc.........He thinks he might have snapped a chain.
Also, what years and trucks are compatible/interchangeable?? If he finds out what is wrong, he is thinking of heading over to the junk yard to find one.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You can use any '80-96 F-Series/Bronco transfer case, but of course, it'll be easier to stay with the same model. The 1356 came in a mechanical-shift and an electric-shift version, so stay with what you have.
You can probably find a diagram here until you get the Haynes. Get the Haynes!

Some later trucks got the BW 1345 transfer cases, even though the started using the 1356 in 89 or so. My 91 has the 1345. The two are very similar, if it is a 1345 it will say so in letters cast between the reinforcing ribs on the passenger side rear of the case. If you find no writing then its probably a 1356, they both are assembled pretty much the same, just a caution in case you need to order parts. Also note that the T-cases also came two ways, with a slip yoke rear output and a fixed yoke rear output. Most 150s I have seen are the slip style. Its a fixed yoke if its a bronco or an extended cab with a carrier bearing drive shaft. I have seen F250s both ways. It doesn't matter if the case is from a 150, 250, or 350. In case you need another case from a junk yard.

Just FYI:
All 1345s have the fixed rear yoke. All Broncos have the fixed rear yoke. Pickups have the slip yoke, except with the 1345. I've never seen a Bronco with a 1345. The 3 fullsize t-case models used from '80-96 are NP-208F ('80-~86 pickups & Broncos), BW 1345 (~'86-~91 heavy pickups), & BW 1356 (~'85-96 all). The 1356 was made as a manual-shift, an electric-shift, and a HD manual version with a PTO plate.
