Cool 1979 f350 wont start! Please help.

The truck starts with no problem first thing in the morning. If you turn it off right after warming it up, it wont start. By "wont start" i mean you get nothing when you try to start it, no sound whatever. Let me tell you what i have done.
Had the battery, alternator and ignition switch checked out. Solenoid has a connecting wire that is loose, not sure what this wire is for and the connecting piece does not fit the post properly.
I have also checked my ground wire from the engine to the firewall. Im at a lose. This is a relatively new problem, but this is my business vehicle and it cant leave me stranded in bad parts of town.

Replace the solenoid and make sure connections are clean and tight, also check starter for a clean and tight connection.

checked the connections on everything i could find or think of. Same problem. Can i strip the wire thats loose on the solenoid and wrap it around the post? One thing i can say, it will start in the morning.

All right people, instead of telling him to replace parts and strip wires with absolutely zero troubleshooting, let's try to see what's actually wrong first. Sound good?

Remove the wire boot going to the 'S' post of the starter solenoid. Check the voltage on this terminal while a friend holds the key in START. Report your results.

You might check the body/chassis ground strap also.

I had a similar problem with my '79, it would set for a few months at a time and start up just fine, then after driving into town (10 miles or so) and shutting truck off it would not restart when needed and no power to anything. After checking everything and replacing starter solenoid / starter (warranty items) and new battery cables, I still had the problem. The next thing I did was clean the chassis/body ground connection and that is what solved my problem.

If its not a obvious problem its usually something simple that gets overlooked ....good luck.
