Fiberglass Caps
I have a Leer that came with my truck. The guy said it cost $1800 new and it just plain black. Its fine I guess. It looks nice but I would never spend that much on it. The top clearcote is peeling off. and seems to have warped a little so water puddles on it. The driver side window leaks a little. The cap is 6 years old. I keep considering selling it but it's handy when i want to keep stuff dry like firniture or fishing gear and other stuff like that.

I've got a *******'s cap on my '01 SCrew. picked it because the sides go all the way to the cab with that wierd shape. So far its still waterproof. only downside is I don't like the latching system, toolbox style. The best latch I saw while shopping was the Leer brand they use a "gate"style latch=more secure i thilnk. jus my thoughts.

My '99 F-150 came with a fiberglass cap. I had an aluminum Lakeland on my '99 Ranger. The aluminum one for the Ranger was around $400. I liked the aluminum better than the fiberglass because the sidewindows tilted out as opposed to sliding. I like the look of the tilt-outs better and they did a better job of keeping the rain out. I mist admit though, the fiberglass does look better. It looks like it belongs on the truck, as opposed to the aluminum which looks like it was an afterthought.
All in all though, I dont like caps. I dont fish and I dont hunt. In fact the only reason I have the cap is to keep the doghair off of my seats. A good seatcover could probably solve that problem though.

I could not afford the high pricetag they sell for, and, I did not like any of them out there. So Made my own. I spend about 200.00 in parts from HomeDepot, and 1 day later I was done. I use Chrome hoodpins to hold it down. It's covered with black leather. I like it becuase it sits flush with the top inside of the bed. I have a styleside so I had to cut it to the right contour of the bed. Ater it is all done, People always ask me where I got my bed top. I tell them I made it and they don't beleive me. I will post pics of it soon in my gallery. If any one wants details, let me know.
