the 262 cid six, was used in cars and light duty pickups…
the 240 and 300 cid six's were also available in '64'
probably a mid year change from the old 262 to the 240-300
my '64' had a 240 cid in it...

Where in the he!! did you come up with this BS info? Ridiculous!

223 I-6: 1954/64 Ford full sized Passenger Cars / 1954/64 F100/600.

262 I-6 = 1961/64 F500/600 / 1963/64 F100/250. 262 not available with A/T or 3 speed O/D.

240/300 I-6's introduced in the 1965 model year, which began September 1964. No 1964 FoMoCo vehicle came w/a 240 or 300 I-6.

223/262: Intake/exhaust manifolds are on the left (drivers) side // 240/300: Intake/exhaust manifolds are on the right (passenger) side.

There is no way to discover how many trucks came with one specific engine, as FoMoCo THREW AWAY all the records decades ago.

The 262 is much harder to find than the 223 or 292. It became a regular production option (RPO) in 1964 on F100 and F 250 2WD pickups. If this engine is found in any other original 61 thru 64 F100- F350, the vehicle was a domestic special order (DSO). In other words, the original owner special ordered the engine from the dealer, because the engine was not on the regular option list. Here is one in a '64
