Hi Zilla,

Both AlaskanEx and tseekin have made very good points in response to your question. The new F150 is a nice truck, but so is the 2009 F250. Has Ford made improvements over the years, absolutely. However, your question is best answered by evaluating your financial situation and needs.
I am a firm believer in the theory that there is no replacement for displacement. I also believe in the law of gross tonnage. Both of which you are currently enjoying. With the amount of driving you do, the savings from the mpg difference would take too long to make up the difference in adding a year or two with a new loan. If your talking about moving to a 4x2 instead of 4x4, then you may see additional savings from insurance costs. How much, I don't know, but you can talk with your insurance provider and they will give you a quote to work with.
In my humble opinion, drive your F250 until the wheels fall off, or until repair costs start eating you alive. In the mean time put some cash aside for a down payment. In five to ten years you'll have a nice chunck of change so you can buy what you want instead of settling for what you can afford today.
I am one month and 1.5 tanks of gas into a 2012 F150 screw 2wd and love it. I let go of a 96 F350 psd to make the move. 30 cents per gallon less for fuel and a bunch of savings in maintenance just made sense.

I have 15k miles on my Ecoboost, only problem has been the transmission - same tranny whether Eco or 5.0....

I have had my ECO for a year now and absolutely love it. Minor issue with surging of turbo waste gate at slow speeds that was corrected with a new flash update some time ago. No other issues. Love this truck! In retrospect, the only thing I wish it could have the ability to do is to put a plow on it.

I think if I did any towing or hauling of a reasonable amount I believe I would keep the F250. Especially if it was fairly new and has not had any issues. It would be a different consideration if it were a high mileage truck and or had a few problems.

I have an Eco and love it, only problem I had was the surging issue at 1700 rpm, and one trip to the dealer for a PCM flash solved the problem. That said if I was in your shoes I would keep what I have. What you are going to save in fuel as little as you drive is not going to amount to hardly anything, and as others have said the value of the V10 is likely going to go up as people realize how good V10s are (were). I looked for a V10 for a farm truck for quite some time before I ended up settling for a 5.4 super duty.

Hello all,
Thanks for all your responces. Part 1 is done. I decided and sold the V10. So now I am looking to buy a 2013 F150 crew cab 4X4 V8 with the 5.5 ft bed. I am looking to buy it sometime in Feb or March.

As I have looked and searched around on here for somethings that I wanted to do when I get the truck, I have become a little confused regarding leveling kits for a 4X4.
I see some people using a 2" and some using a 2.5" kit. Some 2"er's also added blocks to the rear and some did not. Some 2.5"er's also added blocks to the rear and some did not.
A couple of question that I have are.
1- What size rear block, if any, come on the truck that I stated I am going to get above.

2- Which size leveling kit would really level the truck. 2" or 2.5" ? I do not want to mess with the rear.

3- Can you change the shock inside the coil or do you have to buy some other companies product ? (like bilstiens coil kit if you wanted their type of shock). I had Bilstiens on my V10 and really liked them. I wanted to add those to the F150. Or are the stock shocks good. The rancho branded that came with V10 were nice but what a difference when I changed to bilstiens.

4- If anyone has any imput on a company that makes a quailty leveling kit, let me know.

I'm not an expert on leveling kits but I think I can answer your question.

I think stock they do not come with a block. That would be something you would add if you want to lift it.

And as far as what front lift levels it? I would absolutely stick with the 2" if you did anything.

I personally like a little rake to the stance of the truck so I will leave mine stock unless I lift the whole thing. I hate leveled trucks.

I have seen some trucks with a leveling kit that look like they have a thousand pounds of concrete in the bed. A leveling kit that does the exact opposite and makes the truck sit higher in the front. But to each his own and if you want to level it I would for sure stick with the least possible to avoid looking weighed down all the time.

Butl85, Thanks for your input. I do not like the rear end squat look either. I do like a leveled or just a very slight rake.

I think a 2" level would give me what I am looking for. The rear would be still higher in the back but really not noticable unless you really look at it.
