get use to the problems

I currently own a 99f250, v-10, automatic since new. I have 39,000 miserable mile on this truck.
Since new it has been back to several dealers at least 10 times and should have been back at least 50 times, but they wore me out first. 1st problem was the truck not starting. see starting problems topic posted about 6 months back. They finally replaced the idle air valve after many threats which do no good at ford.I have always had the vibration problems which everyone else has along with squeaky front end problems. I have tried 3 different exhaust systems which all sound like #%$&@(>+%*&$# and now has developed a rattle at about 2500 rpm which i have been unable to find (probably an exhaust rattle, but not sure)
I can't wait receive my 2001 GMC crew cab with duramax diesel and allison transmission. HOPE I don't start the same problems with gmc.
I still say that the F250 superduty is the best looking truck on the road, just a shame they couldn't build it as well as it looks. The V-10 is the sorriest excuse for big motor I've ever seen. The small v-8 and diesel could blow it off the road.

You got to be fair with the guy. When we first got my truck the fuel pump blew, brakes wore out in 10k, the engine would race up to 3000 rpm dew to a faulty computer, and the rear axle blew at 70mph???, so Ford does make lemons. The only reason my Mom kept the truck was because she couldn't afford another. Eventually all of the problems got fixed and its been smooth sailing for six years. Still wouldn't buy a GMC though.

forgot to mention
Same brake problems as everyone else.
Brakes were redone 3 time under warranty,
now warranty has expired and doing same
chattering problems, who knows what they will
charge now. Ford should have recalled brake problems years ago, but will not own up to their problems i guess

Does the state in which you live have a Lemon Law?
If it does, you need to pursue your problems thru them if you can't get them resolved. Also, have you tried Ford Arbitration to see what they will do?

Too bad you had such a lemon, pal. I have 46,300 on my '99 SD SC LWB loaded Lariat, and have had nothing but the normal problems you should expect from a new vehicle. (Don't get me wrong, new vehicles should theoretically be trouble-free. Reality: They aren't!)

Mine has had a Banks Powerpack on it since about 1,000 odometer miles, and a Paxton Novi 2000 Supercharger was installed last Spring. My Superduty is a fine truck, and I have no intentions of eventually replacing it with a truck "wannabe".

Good luck with your new Got Mechanic Comin'

I have a 2000 CC SB Lariat V10, no problems after 4000 miles.I know the mileage is low, but it seems the 99's all stink.Ford rushed this truck out to capture the market.Never never never buy the first year of a model! I like my truck alot, but I hope I don't experience the same problems later on.Anyone notice the load time is forever on this site because of the annoying advertisement that has nothing to do with Ford trucks?

I don't think you were quite accurate with your statement in saying that the 99's are the problem, I own a '99 sd,sc 4x4, haven't had a problem with it yet 24,000 miles. I drive it hard, but I do the maintenance.

All those that are complaining should probably take a close look at the maintenance they give their vehicles.

If after you do that, you still think you have a lemon, then I guess you should consider yourself one of the few unlucky ones that maybe did not get what they paid for.

I for one will thank Ford for giving me a mechanicaly hassle free vehicle.

As for the V-10 comments made, just cause it doesn't sound like a V-8 doesn't mean that it's not more powerful. It just means that you should have probably thought of that before you bought the damn thing.

So good luck with your new truck,

OH BY THE WAY, THIS IS, AS A MATTER OF FACT THE FIRST YEAR OF THE CREW CAB GMC. SO GOOD LUCK! SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE GONNA NEED IT.

LAST EDITED ON 30-Sep-00 AT 07:22 AM (EST)[p]I firmly believe that the Super Duty is the best looking, and the best built truck available. It also helps to have a cooperative and respectable dealer. My '99 F250SD V-10 4X4 SC (build date 2-98) is the best truck I've ever had. There have been problems, such as the half dozen recalls to replace $10 parts that were probably okay, and a new motor and front brakes at 26,000, but compared to the Cheby's and Dodge products, the SD is the best. It now has 30,000 miles on it, including frequent trips to Michigan's Silver Lake Sand Dunes for some hard core off-road action (Icaught 15' of air once!). Now after all you've been through you're going to buy a Cheby? These trucks (the new Cheby's) are produced about three miles from here at the Flint, MI Truck Plant, located on your map where I-75 and I-69 meet. In this town, even GM employees don't buy GM products during the first year of production, and they get PEP vehicles at 28% off. If they feel like enduring frequent breakdowns and problems, they lease it so they can turn the piece in at end-of-lease. If it were me I would try another Ford, only from a different dealer.

>So tell me about the Paxton
>Novi 2000,please

Well, it's damned expensive, to start with. For my '99 F-250 SD V-10, Paxton quoted me $5,100. directly from them, but recommended I try Summit Racing when I balked at Paxton's price. I ordered and received one from Summit for $3935., and got it installed in Anchorage at Jim Moore's for a little over $900. additional.

Nearly five thousand dollars is a small fortune to begin, so what did I get for the money?

1. A terrific increase in passing performance (what I was looking for), and the need to add octane booster to the gasoline every time I fill up (because the Novi absolutely requires a minimum of 92 octane fuel).

2. A very well designed unit. The Paxton Novi 2000 kit, when installed, looks like it was put there by Ford during assembly of the engine.

3. Loads of satisfaction! My truck now moves out like it means business, and passing on hilly, curvy, 2-lane roads is a LOT quicker/safer.

Gas mileage didn't go down. In fact, it went UP just a little (maybe enough to pay the difference in price for the premium gas the octane boost). That was an unexpected bonus.

That's about it. I'm dropping the belt off the supercharger for the winter tomorrow, because we're into snow season up here, and more horsepower is NOT needed when traction is a problem.

OK, you guys convinced me, just traded my lemon on 2000 V-10 excursion and love it. Motor is much smoother, transmission is ubelievably much more smooth shifting and ride is unreal. Hope it doesn't let me down, but with 2,000 mile already, I love it. Right now, I'm glad i didn't purchase the chevy.
