Plasti-dipped exterior parts '02 Mountaineer

I plasti-dipped the rear tail light grills, front grill and all the emblems on the truck. I did this a couple months ago and wanted to wait to see if it would hold up before i posted my experience. It has been about 3 months and 8-10 car washes later. So far no problems what so ever, and no fading. The only problem i would see is if you hold a pressure washer to close to it. I plan on doing the rims but am waiting to put some newer tires on it. Looks alot better instead of the faded factory grills/emblems IMO. I used 2 cans of black plasti-dip with a total of 6 coats on grills and 5 on emblems. First coat is a light coating, 2nd is a medium and the rest a heavy.

Did you remove the text emblems to coat them, or were you that good with tape and a hobby knife? I really like the contrast of the text emblems.

Only problem with Plasti-dip is from when I've used it before, it doesn't hold up well to the sun. But it looks great.

All you gotta do is tape a sqaure around the emblems and make sure you do the coats heavy enough. Then you just peel it off around the emblem slowly and it gives you a perfect edge.

Oh yeah, makes sense. Use the "peel off" characteristics as it's own masking.
