Took my V10 to the dyno today..

One of the local shops had a Dyno Day today, so I decided to take my V10 down there just to see what I am putting down:

Mods:
81K miles
Volant CAI
Custom long tube headers
True duals
87 Performance tune by 5 Star Tuning

313 HP and 415lb-ft of torque ain't too bad, I guess. But what I like is that nice flat torque curve. Just what I wanted for towing and good mileage when empty.

Given powertrain losses of 30%, you're making closing to 440hp at the flywheel, as well as averaging 500+ lbft of torque thru most the range. Very nice. Explain the headers a little bit.

They are custom one off headers. I'll stop by the fabricator (Concept Fabrications in Sierra Vista, AZ) to get the details, but those primaries are looonnng. The collector sits so far back that I had to add an add-a-leaf lift just to clear the front pinion. If it was a 2WD, he said it wouldn't be so bad, but the 4WD made it a challenge. They are squeezed in there.

I wanted a set of headers that actually helped the RPM range I normally drive in - low to mid rpms. The shortys only help the higher rpms, but I wanted low to mid rpm power. Since the aftermarket only has shortys, I had to go custom.

Thats cool dirtcrazy. Thanks for sharing. I have always wondered what my truck's numbers would be. Nothing but a tuner from 5 star (87 perf tune) but still curious.

Those appear to be similar in length to the Banks Motorhome headers, although theirs are straighter tubing. I'm going with the Banks Torque Tubes next spring on my 00, combined with my low stall converter, I'm hoping it really wakes the truck up. When I dyno mine, I'm hoping to break 275hp to the wheels. Time will tell.
