03 F250, 4" Icon Lift, w/Bushwacker Flares, need tire/wheel recommendations

OK, here it goes, my first thread post.

I have a 5.4 2003 F250. Paint was peeling so figured it was easier/cheaper to get new paint, dress up the truck, and eventually leave it to my son in 2-3 years.

What I've already done: new paint, new Recon lights all around, Bushwacker Pocket Style Flares.

I am getting the 4" Icon lift, and also Bilstein shocks (size??).

Since I'm determined to get 35" 12.5 Toyo MT Open Country tires, I need help in selecting wheels/rims that won't rub, but will fill out past the normal OEM fenders since the Bushwackers extend a little further. The Offset and Backspace discussions I've read confuse me because I'll have BOTH the 4" lift and the Bushwackers.

Any help?

Probably something like -12 offset or more, mine are -6 and they are about 1/2" outside of the stock wheel wells. this calculator was helpful when i was finding wheels

if you have the stock super duty wheels still, they are 16x7 with +6 offset

the pocket flares look nice, but usually when i see them on a truck they hang past the tire, making the tires and wheels look 'sucked in'. i would go with a 10" wide wheel with at least -24mm offset to make the wheels almost flush with the flares.

I have everything you list except the pocket flares. I've had both -6mm and -10mm wheels and here is how they fit. -6mm put my 315/75r16s flush with the fenders, tread edge flush that is, and 315 ATs are a slightly narrow 35x12.50. The -10mm wheels had a 35x12.50 MT and they sat about 3/8" outside the fender edge. With the extra 2" coverage from the pocket flares and a 35x12.50 you'll want to go with a -25mm wheel to get them out a little further, but still keep some coverage to keep your truck sides clean.

I used Mickey Thompson Classic II (10" wide) and they stick out about 2 to 2 1/2 inches from the stock fenders. (apx.) I'm working on posting a pic but don't know how to do it.

01 F250 5.4L 4" BDS lift with full leaf springs in rear and the stock blocks. I had to cut a little plastic on the front bumper because they rubbed at near full lock. Room for a leveling kit yet though.

Edited: Well then, it say "You may not post attachments" so there it is. I may not post attachments.

Upload it to a photo hosting site (id recommend photobucket) and then when you are looking at the picture on there, there will be 4 links off to the right. Copy the one that says [IMG] and then paste it here

The 10" wide MT Classic II is a -25mm offset wheel, which is about what you're looking for. It's not sticking out 2-2.5" as posted though, unless the tires are 15" wide. More like 1" or 1.5" max.

Right, I miss spoke. They do not stick out 2 to 2 1/2 inches from the fender. What I was thinking (but not writing) is from the stock wheel. At least that was my rough guestemath. I have not done the math. The Mickey Thompson Classic II has a 4 7/16 backspacing and a -27mm offset. There are websites that really help explain it all but they never really did me much good because I did not know the stock backspacing. Therefore I could not be sure how much farther out they would be from stock. I took these when I got home in the hopes they would help you out. Tires are 315/75R16

This is the trimming I had to do.

I'm running a 18x10 -25 offset wheel and a 14.5'' wide tire with bushwacker pocket flares. Defiantly wouldn't want them tucked in anymore.

My setup sticks out about the same as yours.

2" up front 1-1/2" in the rear. I just ordered some fender flares from Prestige. They are supposed cover out 2" past stock. They have a similar look to the pocket style from Bushwacker but $100 less. Should get them next week and will post pics in another thread once theyre installed.

Thanks guys, looks like I'll have to take before and after pics. I don't know what the wheel dimensions that I have now, but they're the optional stock alloy wheels. I was able to bump up from the tires it came with (they looked too small) to 285/75/16s.

acf6: my truck is almost identical yours but all blue and single cab, with euro mirrors. Replacing with the tow mirrors.

Faustrocket & Quadracer: That's pretty much the tire push-out I'm looking for, to fill the Bushwackers.

This could be a whole other post, but like I mentioned above, I'm replacing my power euro mirrors with the tow mirrors. Does anyone know if the OEM electrical coupling for power mirrors will automatically hook up a power tow mirror that has the directional lights? I would think so.

Thx,
Warbird

Stock wheels are +6mm offset. Changing to a -25mm moves the wheel and tire center line out 31mm or 1.22". Then, you're tire edge will move out half of your tire width increase.
