'94 F150, strt. 6, auto. washed the engine yesterday. got in this morning, cranked fine, idled fine for 15 min. while I checked air in tires. Put in drive and died. Started again fine, put in drive and it stumbled about 3 ft. then died. Same results in reverse. Finally got it out of the driveway and it did fine until I stopped and would die every time so I started braking w/ the left foot while i kept the RPM's up at a stop. Figured there might be some water in the dist. cap or something and it would smooth out after a while. Got on the highway and drove 20 miles and ran fine. Got to a stop and it was still dying. Picked up the small sandblaster I was going to get and headed home. Started stumbling bad on the highway after about 5 miles, 15 miles from home. Made it back to town and kept my foot on the gas while I stopped with the left foot. Died and would not restart. Had to call afriend to tow me home. Oil pressure, temp, and batt. were fine the whole time. ????

Maybe it finally got enough heat and airflow to finally dry out!!!!!!!!

From the sound of the original post the problem started AFTER washing the engine.

Right White '97. Washed engine yesterday and the problem started this morning. What's really weird is it ran fine when you got it up to speed until I had driven it about 40 miles, then it died and wouldn't re-start. Pulled it home, let it sit for an hour and now it runs great. Strange.

Hummmmmmm................

publiss, PLEASE let us know if your truck starts acting up again.

If the symptoms do re-appear, I wonder how long it'll take until we "go down that path".

Couldn't hurt to check for stored codes.

I agree that it was likely the wash.
