Temp sending unit

Guys,

Don't know if you've experienced this but......

just finished rebuilding the 302 in my '75 Bronco. Everything being new, I also put a new temp sending unit in it.......where the original one was (drivers side...block). The temp gauge always worked fine previously.

So the engine is running fine.....no problems. Except......the temp gauge nearly pegs after the engine warms up. So, I shot the block, radiator etc with an infrared temp gun.....the highest reading during idle was 185......and it was over 100 degrees outside at the time.

LSS, I have been told that the new sending unit isn't matching up with my gauge. But no one can tell me what I can do to make them match up.

Any suggestions?

Thx
Kirk

If you're using the stock gauge and a stock replacement temp sending unit, my guess would be the new sender is deffective or the wrong one.

the temp sending unit is behind the distributor, completely out of sight unless you are 8ft tall. the sending unit on the driver side of block is the oil pressure sender.
