Looking at a 2004 F-150 with a 5.4 vin 5 engine- it needs an engine and I need to know what year used motors will fit. Even if I need to strip to a long block. I would like to get a motor built after 05 if possible.

I would think that any 3valve 5.4L will work.
2004-2010 would be the years those were used. Look for a really late 2007 build or newer. If it has brown boots on the COPs then it won't have the issues with plugs sticking in the heads. The cam phaser issues were mostly worked out by then also.
